Morris Museum of Art
The Morris Museum of Art was founded in 1985 and opened to the public in 1992. It is the oldest museum in the country that is devoted to the art and artists of the American South. The works of art span more than 200 years, from the late-eighteenth century to present.
The Morris Museum of Art is one of the region's premier cultural institutions. Noted for its multifaceted permanent collection and a diverse program of continuously changing special exhibitions, the Morris Museum is dedicated to the ongoing interpretation of Southern art in all its forms and the preservation of the region's rich cultural legacy.
The museum holds nearly 5,000 works of art, including paintings, watercolors, drawings, prints, photographs and sculpture, dating from the late 18th century to the present.
